Shawnee Twin Lakes and Wes Watkins Reservoir
From the laughter of children, to the splash of fish, to the roar of a jet ski, Shawnee Twin Lakes and Wes Watkins Reservoir offers year round recreation with a family atmosphere. Two sandy-beach swimming areas as well as an overnight camping area.

Wes Watkins Reservoir, predicted to be one of the state's premier bass fishing sites, has 27 RV hookups with electric and water available, 33 primitive camping areas and restrooms. The recreation area, located on the north side of the lake, features pavilions with grills, picnicking, swimming, boating and skiing.

Mabee-Gerrer Museum
The Mabee-Gerrer Museum of Art, founded in 1915, is one of the oldest museums in Oklahoma. The Museum is located on the campus of St. Gregory's University, and is the only fine arts museum in the city of Shawnee. A brief survey of the collection includes Greek and Roman objects, art from the early Renaissance through the early 20th century, and large collections of Native American, African, Oceanic and Eastern cultural arts. Perhaps the museum's best-known exhibit is the Egyptian collection, which features several mummies and a large number of outstanding artifacts.

The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Guided group tours can be arranged by contacting the Museum two weeks in advance of your visit. A selection of fine art books, cards, folk art and unusual gifts for adults and children is available in the gift shop. Shawnee Mall
Shawnee Mall is a regional shopping center, containing more than 60 stores and restaurants. The center is anchored by Dillards, JCPenney, Sears and Wal-Mart and features other amenities, such as a six-screen cinema, a 280-seat food court and three "sit-down" restaurants. Shawnee Mall has something for everyone, with stores such as The Athletic Village, The Buckle, Gadzooks, Lane Bryant, Bath & Body, K-B Toys, Footaction USA and J's Hallmark. Santa Fe Depot
Exploring the adventures of the past can be an active pastime for the Shawnee visitor. Designed in 1903 by Joseph Schuettern of Aurora, Illinois, the depot is the last of its kind on the old route to the West. Certainly, one of the highlights of your historical investigation will be the Santa Fe Railroad Depot, located on East Main Street. The Historical Society of Pottawatomie County has restored the depot and opened a county history museum in the facility. Tours may be arranged by contacting the Shawnee Chamber of Commerce.

Potawatomi Tribal Museum
The name "Potawatomi" is an Algonquin word which means "People of the Place of the Fire." Today, the Potawatomi are known as the "Keepers of the Fire." The Potawatomi Tribal Museum is located on tribal grounds south of downtown Shawnee and features artifacts of the Potawatomi Indians.
